Dr. Maher Abbas completed his medical studies and residency and fellowship in the USA, he is a renowned surgeon with over 22 years of expertise and specializes in interventional endoscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, proctoscopy, anoscopy, colon cancer screening, polyp removal, tumor resection, stricture management, minor treatment of hemorrhoids, management of radiation inflammation, open and minimally invasive camera surgery (laparoscopic, robotic). Dr. Abbas was one of the founders of the Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi and sits on the editorial board of several scientific journals and is associate editor of the Diseases of Colon and Rectum, the official journal of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, he has over 150 scientific publications under his name and is the recipient of 29 honor awards.
Formerly, Dr. Abbas was the regional chief of colorectal surgery in the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, the founding chair of the center for minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and director of the National Center for Excellence in Colorectal Surgery.
