Dr. Muhammad S. TahirM.D., ABPN

Dr. Muhammed S. Tahir is an american qualified General Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. He has been working as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital, The University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, New York, U.S.A.

Dr. Tahir completed his Adult Psychiatry residency training at Columbia University, New York affiliated Creedmoor Psychiatric Center and his Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Weill Cornell University Hospital, New York.

Before coming to Dubai, Dr. Tahir worked as Assistant Unit Chief, leading a multidisciplinary treatment team at New York Presbyterian Hospital,Westchester Division. His responsibilities included treating children/ adolescent and adults suffering from a variety of acute and chronic mental illnesses, ranging but not limited to, ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, autistism, spectrum disorders, major depressions, eating disorders, oppositional defiant disorders, conduct disorders, psychotic disorders, impulse control disorders, anxiety disorders, panic disorders, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorders, conversion disorders, tic disorders and substance abuse. He held other responsibilities including teaching child psychiatry to fellows, medical students and psychology interns. He participated in seminars, publishing and reviewing papers and reviewing presented for publication.

Dr. Tahir is an expert in using all available treatment modalities, ranging the use of psychotropic medications, individual psychotherapy, cognitive behavior therapy approach, family therapy, couple’s therapy, using playgroup approach for young children , school consultation, community lectures, leading parents guidance groups and social skills group for children.

Dr. Tahir has published papers like "Preventive intervention in schizophrenia; Hopes and challenges", "ls this medications induced Psychosis or medications uncovered Psychiatric Illness (Psychosis)". He also participated in research studies related to trauma in children of divorcing parents.

Dr. Tahir is currently practicing Psychiatry and is Head of Psychiatry Department and Medical Director at Health Call Clinic in Dubai Healthcare City. He is also attending to patients at The City Hospital Dubai.
